Animation Diary - 27/01/2011

I have managed to get back on track with the aniamatic. I only did a short sequence as had I spent most of the morning finishing the comic strips. I also made the schoolboy error of not referring to the storyboard before I started so I missed out a few sequences. I will do my best to ensure this does not happen again. The good news is I won't have any comic strips to draw for another three weeks so I can focus my attention on the animation. I also won't have the internet to distract me because my broadband provider will be switched off tomorrow. This will mean that I won't be posting any of these updates for a while. Expect to hear from me in about three weeks.

Animation Diary - 26/01/2011

It's been another busy day. I am happy to say that I have finished drawing the next three issues of Beluga Weekly which will be published from Friday 28th January - Friday 11th February. The animatic is still on hold but I will do my best to get back on track tomorrow once I have sent off the web comics. Then I intend to continue reading the rest of my animation book. Also, I might begin experimenting with some colour animation for the next stage of the project. I want to make sure I have somewhere to progress onto when the animatic is done.

Animation Diary - 25/01/2011

Once again I have neglected to work on my animatic but I have a reasonable explanation for this. Today I have been extremely busy and have had very little time to spend on anything computer related. I have not even managed to spend any time reading my book for educational purposes. Coupled with the fact I also need to complete a few comic strips by Thursday, this could mean I won't be able to spend a lot of time on the animatic over the next few days. Still, it does look pretty good  so far.

Animation Diary - 24/01/2011

Today I managed to complete a rather lengthy sequence so I feel quite satisfied. I have noticed that the size of the characters may need adjusting. Two of my characters are slightly too big. They are sitting down so this means they will appear even shorter than they would in profile. I have started a new sequence which I had not storyboarded. For this I have added some extra audio from my recording session yesterday.

Animation diary - 23/01/2011

Today I took a break from animation in order to complete the rough audio track and give some of the additional characters a voice. I recorded the remaining speech for the animatic. I plan to continue with the animation tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can get more than a day's worth completed before Tuesday.

Animation diary - 22/01/2011

I think I made better progress today than yesterday. It helps that I've finished the latest instalment of my web comic so I don't have to keep track of two projects at once. Also I was able to get straight onto the animatic this morning because I didn't need to go out or have any chores around the flat. So far this cartoon appears to be living up to my expectations which, needless to say, is a good thing.

Animation diary - 21/01/2011

Once again work has been slow on the animatic front. In the meantime I need to be looking for work so there isn't a huge amount of time for animating. I think I might need to put a bit more care into my drawings. Recently I have rushed the composition of some of the sequences. Also, the characters do not always match up constantly because I haven't put together any reference material/character profiles. This may become more and more problematic if I don't do something about it soon.

Animation diary - 20/01/2011

Today was the worst so far. I spent the entire morning finishing off my comic strip which I am happy to say is finished and ready to go live at 00:00 tomorrow. Today, I managed to get into a new sequence for the animatic and have made a start on planning the mouth shapes for the characters featured. I have also rearranged some of the recorded dialogue so that it fits with the new length of the animation.

Animation diary - 19/01/2011

It's happened again! I'm slightly behind schedule, mind you I haven't really worked out a schedule so what I actually mean is I have not committed quite as much work as I would have been satisfied with. It took me a very long time to animate the last two sequences because at this point, my characters need to interact physically with each other. I have worked hard today, but it hasn't got be that far. I have been spending a fair amount of time on my comic strip which is looking very good indeed.

Animation diary - 18/01/2011

I think I may have just about recovered from the lack of progress and am back on track with the project. I have looked at my storyboard and it appears that I will have to animate another 19 pages before I can reach the end of the animatic stage. I imagine that just like everything I have animated before, this is going to take much longer than I had hoped.

Animation diary - 17/01/2011

So far, my biggest problem seems to be time management. This project involves a lot of concentration, but I still need to make time for important tasks in my daily routine. This week I will not only be working on a new animation but also I have my comic strip to be getting on with. Hopefully That will be done before Friday (and I won't forget to post it!)

Animation diary - 15/01/2011

So far I have completed the script, most of the recording, the storyboard and am now working on the animatic for the latest of my cartoons. Myself and Esme will once again feature as voices for some of the characters, it will probably be about six minutes long and will no doubt take a great deal longer to animate. Still, I'm making moderately good progress. I'm hoping my patience won't let me down at all this time around. The biggest obstacle is my devotion to the task. Hope you enjoy it when it's done.
